Barb Buchanan in love with the ART world
(Click image for larger view and details)
Barb grew up in a family of artists and craftspeople and fell in love with the art world at a very young age. With art training, from taking art classes after school at a young age then studying and receiving her Fine Arts Diploma from John Abbott College in Montreal, she set out to find employment in the field, any field to do with art. Sadly this did not come to fruition and instead Barb had to put her art away to concentrate on working two full time jobs to make ends meet.
Many years later (decades really) after raising her family and horses alongside her husband (Bob), Barb finally found the time to dabble again with her true passion – ART! After playing with watercolours one day during a balmy July afternoon in 2016, Barb realized that she could no longer go without ART in her life. This realization brought back her passion and she started painting like mad and going online to find tutorials and books to teach her the forgotten techniques.
Barb works mainly in watercolour and acrylics. She has also played with soft pastels through a course she took in the fall of 2017 at ‘The Ottawa School of Art’. An oils class, through Kemptville artist and teacher Kate Green, has added to her skills.
Barb is also a member of the ‘Artawa’ art group in Ottawa and the ‘North Grenville Arts Guild’ in Kemptville. Barb finds a lot of support from these groups and from friends she has met through various art groups online. She has found her ‘people’ again !!
Barb has displayed a couple of paintings at ‘The Basket Case’ (Morrisburg), ‘The Art House Café’ (Ottawa) and ‘The Atomic Rooster’ (Ottawa) and participated in Arts Carleton Place’s ‘Itty Bitty Art Sale’.
*Side note – Barb is a Professional Dancer and loves to bring her creative sides together!
