Gilbert and Sullivan`s classic operetta satirizing current social mores through the lens of an ancient fantasy village in Japan.  Nanki-Poo, a wandering Minstrel, enters the town of Titipu looking for his love Yum-Yum.  He discovers that she is the ward of Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner, and engaged to be married to him against her will.  Secretly, Nanki-Poo is actually the son of the Emperor, The Mikado-of Japan, and is on the run to escape from the older woman, Katisha, to whom he has been betrothed.  In the end, after a series of comic reversals, the Mikado comes to town, sorts everything out himself, and love reigns.
