2023 Juried Fine Art Show – Artists Demonstrations
Of the 75 participating artists, 13 will be holding demonstrations at their kiosks, in the arena venues or just outside the entrance to the arena. (français ci-dessous)
Danielle Beaulieu will be painting in pure watercolour to demonstrate how this transparent medium is magical and to provide inspiration to those considering picking up brushes on their own.
Colleen Gray is a synthetic paper specialist, working primarily with watercolour. On Sunday, she will demonstrate the dynamic effects of using ground mineral watercolour on a non-porous surface to show the remarkable effects of this medium. On Saturday, you can catch Colleen at the Indigenous Fair (May 6th only) at the Zion United Church in Carleton Place.
Christian Grivon will be demonstrating how he creates his art from canvas preparation to modelling paste application before moving on to adding the gel medium, using paint pens for pattern creation and stencils for depth and texture. The demonstration will be on-going at his booth.
Linda Hamilton will be at her booth, demonstrating the art of cutting paper and assembling flowers and leaves.
Derrick Hewitt will be showing how a traditional indigenous drum is made, showing the process of putting the drum together including weaving the pattern, stretching, and tightening the drum. This demonstration will take place throughout the show. Come see how the tree of life can enhance your wall design.
Leah Hicks on Sunday at 11:00 will demonstrate her mixed media approach to painting a flower, she will start with charcoal and then add colour.
Kim Land who is joining us from Témiscamingue and who creates magnificent light sculptures will demonstrate how the driftwood, the reeds and the tissue paper come together to create unique works of art. This work will be on-going at her booth¸ throughout the show.
Kathryn Makinson will be working silver clay in a two-part demonstration. Part One on Saturday will see her working the clay. Part Two on Sunday will showcase the polishing of the silver post torching and hardening of the material. Unfortunately, the torching and hardening of the material will not occur on site for safety reasons.
David McAuslan will be showcasing watercolour techniques and design concepts at his booth throughout the show.
Murkay Creations will be demonstrating the art of making glass beads. The 10-minute presentation will run continuously from 10:30 to 3:30 on Saturday in the parking lot next to the arena. They will be joined by Roxanne Ward who will also be showing how to manipulate stones.
Marlene Othmer will be demonstrating the making of Stained Glass Art at her booth throughout the duration of the Fine Art Show. You may have caught her work at the Carp Fair.
Jennifer Raby will be demonstrating how she creates her Batik art from watercolour paper, artist grade watercolours and 100% bleached BEES WAX, this creative process uses the wax as in batik as a resist and as an archival media. The demos will take place at her booth and will take place at 11:00 to 12:00, and 2:00 to 3:00 each day.

Christian Grivon démontrera comment il crée son art de la préparation de la toile à l’application de la pâte à modeler avant de passer à l’ajout du médium gel, en utilisant des stylos à peinture pour la création de motifs et des pochoirs pour la profondeur et la texture. La démonstration se poursuivra sur son stand.
Linda Hamilton sera à son stand, démontrant l’art de couper du papier et d’assembler des fleurs et des feuilles.
Derrick Hewitt montrera comment un tambour indigène traditionnel est fabriqué, montrant le processus d’assemblage du tambour, y compris le tissage du motif, l’étirement et le serrage du tambour. Cette démonstration aura lieu tout au long du salon. Venez voir comment l’arbre de vie peut rehausser la conception de votre mur.
Leah Hicks dimanche à 11h00 démontrera son approche mixte pour peindre une fleur, elle commencera avec du fusain puis ajoutera de la couleur.
Kim Land qui nous rejoint du Témiscamingue et qui crée de magnifiques sculptures lumineuses nous montrera comment le bois flotté, les roseaux et le papier de soie s’unissent pour créer des œuvres d’art uniques. Ce travail se poursuivra à son kiosque son stand¸ tout au long du salon.
Kathryn Makinson travaillera l’argile argentée dans une démonstration en deux parties. La première partie de samedi la verra travailler l’argile. La deuxième partie du dimanche présentera le polissage de l’argent au chalumeau et le durcissement du matériau. Malheureusement, le chalumeau et le durcissement du matériau ne se produiront pas sur place pour des raisons de sécurité.
David McAuslan présentera des techniques d’aquarelle et des concepts de design sur son stand tout au long du salon.
Murkay Creations démontrera l’art de fabriquer des perles de verre. La présentation de 10 minutes se déroulera en continu de 10 h 30 à 15 h 30 le samedi dans le stationnement à côté de l’aréna. Ils seront rejoints par Roxanne Ward qui montrera également comment manipuler des pierres.
Marlene Othmer fera la démonstration de la fabrication de l’art du vitrail sur son stand pendant toute la durée du salon des beaux-arts. Vous avez peut-être aperçu son travail à la foire de la carpe.
Jennifer Raby démontrera comment elle crée son art Batik à partir de papier aquarelle, d’aquarelles de qualité artiste et de CIRE D’ABEILLE 100% blanchie, ce processus créatif utilise la cire comme dans le batik comme réserve et comme support d’archivage. Les démos auront lieu sur son stand et auront lieu de 11h00 à 12h00, et 2h00 à 3h00 chaque jour.
