The Town of Carleton Place is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2019 and Arts Carleton Place (ACP) is joining the celebration with a few new twists to its Spring Fine Art Show & Sale.  This annual show & sale will be held Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th, 2019, 10am – 4:30pm on the banks of the Mississippi River at the beautiful Carleton Place Canoe Club, 179 John Street, Carleton Place.  There is no admission fee and lots of free parking.  New in 2019, ACP’s own Peter Brown will be providing live piano music on Saturday afternoon. 

Deadline for applications is January 31, 2019.

Another twist is its new status as a ‘reviewed/juried’ show, predominantly showcasing wall art (oil, acrylic, aquarelle, charcoal, mixed media, watercolour, pencil art, photography, etc.).  The venue can accommodate 30-34 artists.  Booth sharing will be permitted.  Artists can either find their own partner or work with ACP to find a good match.  All kiosks are 8ft wide, 4ft deep and 6ft highHigh quality jewelry, pottery, fused glass and other artisans will be included if space remains available.

Vendor setup is scheduled for Friday, May 3rd from 12pm to 5pm.  Participants must be finished setup by 5pm to be ready for the final new twist, an Art Show ‘Coffee House’.  This event is open, by invitation only, to all ACP members, their friends and families.  We look forward to invitees joining this ‘celebration of art’ on Friday evening, from 6:30pm to 9pm, to preview the artwork and socialize with the participating artists.  Artwork will also be for sale.  There is No Charge for admission to the ‘Coffee House’, although donations to the ACP Bursary Program will be cheerfully accepted.  

Vendor Application Process

1.     Complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) at 2019 Spring Show Application
2.     Email a Biography and attach six images of your recent work.  Required information for each properly referenced image file should include title, media and size.  Image files must be no less than 1200 pixels on the long side.  Providing quality images will assist in the review process.  Email to artscp2018@gmail.com.
3.      Participants must be members in good standing of Arts Carleton Place for 2019 at the time of submission of the EOI.  The 2019 membership form is available at this link Membership.

Additional Show Information

All artwork on the kiosk’s walls must be ‘hang ready’. Regularly sized canvases and photographs must be framed and gallery wrapped canvases must be painted on the edges.  Unframed photographs, watercolours, sketches etc may be displayed on a table or grid rack, when packaged and presented in a professional manner.

The deadline for completion of the EOI, including the receipt of files, is January 31, 2019. The reviewing committee will make their selections by February 8th and notify artists by February 10th at which time the registration fee will be due.

Art sale payments will be taken at a central cash, with a small commission to Arts Carleton Place (5% on cash sales and 7.7% on credit sales) in support of the local bursary program.  Sales reconciliation and electronic money transfers to artists will be completed no later than seven days after the show.

A light lunch of soup, crackers and desserts will be available for purchase, on both show days, on a cost recovery basis.  Coffee and tea (environmentally friendly tap water) available any time.  Food allergies and sensitivities cannot be accommodated.

ACP had 850 visitors and sales of close to $11,000 at its 2018 fall show.
