Violetta Veljkovic
A member of the Arts Carleton Place Artist Database
My formal training is in Chemical Engineering and I worked on the product development and quality assurance issues throughout my career.
Even though I was always interested in the arts, I didn't have the opportunity to pursue this path until later in life. My involvement in the Visual arts actually began in 1992 when I started taking evening classes at the Visual Art Centre and at Saidy Bronfman School of Arts in Montreal, Quebec. About ten years ago we moved to Almonte and I continued taking classes at the Ottawa School of Arts. As a result, I am proficient in hand built pottery making techniques and painting on canvas and silk. However, my preferred medium is silk and presently I concentrate on working with a range of silk products and use of several techniques to make the process interesting and diverse.
My silk scarves are currently displayed at Piece of Mind Creations in Almonte, Gallery Gift Shop in Arnprior, River Guild in Perth and Surrounding Memories in Carleton Place.
