Victor Maltby has been playing the violin since 1965 and the saxophone since 1969. He has played in the International and University of Guelph Symphony Orchestras, many community bands across the country. When teaching High School Science for 11 years, he assisted in the music program as a classroom teacher, choir director and Junior Band director.
He is classically trained on the violin but when he chanced upon his grandfather's collection of fiddle tunes in the mid-eighties he was hooked ! After moving to the Ottawa Valley Area in 2001 music became his predominant focus. He now teaches music privately and at MusicWorks in Almonte, conducts fiddle workshops and plays in the Celtic band "The Skirmish", the Maberly String Quartet and with a network of musicians in Eastern Ontario in numerous venues.
