I was born in Huntley Township, now West Carleton, in 1944. Our Home and Rump's General Store, was on the Carp Rd. I went to a one room, stone School House, S. S. # 1 Huntley. It is now the Cheshire Cat Restaurant and Pub. My roots go way back to 1820, when my ancestors came to Canada, from Ireland. Cavanaghs, Johnstons and Mordys. They were given land in Huntley Township, and here I am. John and I were married in 1964. We have 2 children, Connie and her husband James, and Chris, and his wife Nathalie, and 5 grandchildren. Alisha, Justin, Lincoln, Shelby and Max. We live on Richardson Side Rd. now, and have been wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida, for 20 years. We also own a cottage, on Litchfield Lake, in the Province of Quebec.
The desire to paint pictures has been with me for a long time. My father-in-law was an artist, and I thought, what a wonderful legacy for your children and grandchildren. I always felt that some day when I reached retirement age, I would try to accomplish the same thing. I started watercolour painting in 2009, being inspired, by my artist friend, Kathy Baird.
I have been supported and encouraged along the way, by my husband John and friends. Further advice and encouragement from Artist, Sam Saunders and Artist, John Madden, have helped me to mature as an artist. My niece, Deborah Krogan, has given me her time and support, which means a great deal to me. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I have enjoyed painting them.
