MCpl Robert Mullan (ret'd) was born in Montreal in 1957. He began his military career in 1974 with the Black Watch, and later transferred to the 48th Highlanders of Canada (in Toronto). Upon graduating from George Brown College in Toronto, Robert joined the Regular Force as a Direct Entry in 1982. Over the years, he has been posted to Kingston, Calgary, Mill Cove, Nova Scotia and Ottawa. As well as two tours of the Golan Heights, the former Master Corporal has been to Alert and to the former Yugoslavia. He has also had previous attached postings in Norway and West Germany. Robert is married with three children and is retired from the Forces as of March, 2003. He has received his diploma in Applied Museum Studies from Algonquin College (Ottawa) in 2004. MCpl Mullan (ret'd) started cartooning in his spare time while on tour in Yugoslavia in 1995. He has since taken several art classes and his work has appeared in numerous publications across Canada. Two cartoons are presently in the Canadian War Museum's permanent war art collection. Robert would like to let our readers know that he is available for commissioned works (e.g., retirement, or posting gifts, personalized cartoons, or Regimental Christmas cards). A book of his cartoons, Militoons, is doing very well in selected outlets and alongside the exhibition he created called, "You Had to Laugh", featuring the work of the famed WWII cartoonist, William "Bing" Coughlin, as well as his own work. Robert Mullan may be reached
by email for further information.
