I have always been the creative one in my family. As a kid I was always drawing, painting, and doing crafts. Art class was the only thing I looked forward to. I grew up out west and moved to Sudbury in 1993
where I attended high school. I had no idea what to do after that. A friend of mine mentioned the Museum Studies Program at Algonquin College and I thought that was a wonderful idea. I've always had a thing for history and wanted to be a part of preserving it. I graduated from the program in 2000, but was unable to find a job in the field. I decided to put that on hold and get a 'regular/boring' job in the meantime. Almost six years and two beautiful kids later, I have finally decided to give my dreams a try. I had the opportunity to open my own custom picture framing shop (The Fitted Frame) and I jumped at the chance. I took the International Picture Framing School course in Kingston in September of last year and decided that this is definitely the right path for me. Not only can I use my experience as a Museum student to preserve people's special memories, but I can use my creativity too! Being a stay-at-home mom for a while has allowed me to turn some of my sketches into paintings. I only wish I had more time as I have so many ideas to put on canvas!I am so glad to be a part of Arts Carleton Place and share my time with so many other like-minded individuals.
Please feel free to check out my website fittedframe.com to see what I can do for you!
