Mary Jane Lancaster
A member of the Arts Carleton Place Artist Database
M.J. was born and raised in Carleton Place and has been painting and drawing since the moment she could hold a crayon. In the 80's she studied Illustration at Sheridan College under the guidance of such well-known artists as Frank Newfeld and has spent the last 28 years working in the printing industry doing Graphic Design and Sales. She has designed books, logos, advertisements and has illustrated numerous publications. Painting and drawing and sculpture is still very much a passion for M.J. it allows her the escape she needs from the stressors of everyday life.
As the former manager of a local Art store (The V.A.M). she became more involved with the local artists and Arts CP. MJ has sat on the board of Arts CP for the last few years now as secretary and continues to be very involved in the local community and the arts. Now in her 40's, M.J. has turned her focus back to her paintings and her personal artistic journey. Her first show will be The First Annual Carleton Place Arts Tour which will be held December 4th 2011 in and around the Carleton Place area.
