I've been involved with the arts in one way or another all my life, coming out of university with a Fine Arts degree in the 80's and presently partnering with my husband at Lux Photographic Services wherein I provide design, photo restoration and other creative endeavours from concept to finished product. It is wonderfully liberating and satisfying to be in a business where I am essentially given the raw materials to work with and then have full control from start to finish - actually creating the ideas and images and then having full reign on the printing side whether it be on fine watercolour, canvas or other archival papers. I particularly love restoring old photographs from the past. I enjoy watching the images come alive once again as their story emerges through the cracks, stains and fading paper. It is like meeting them in person - I feel I tap into their spirit - who were you? What did you look like? As we at Lux are absolutely into high quality and custom work, I love how much we can improve a photograph - an art in itself! I also love creating montages for my clients who mainly allow me carte blanche with their memories! We are lucky to be surrounded by art and photography every day, giving space in our gallery to our clients, whether they are photographers, painters, glass artists or sculptors! I love what I do and enjoy challenging myself with each new project!
