Arts Carleton Place (artscarletonplace.com)

They say a picture is worth 1000 words. I don't know who they are but I thought all these new words in my vocabulary would help me write this, a biography of myself.

Carleton Place is and has always been my home. That may not be important but its part of the show.

For the past 10 years I have been spending my time attached to a grill and I am what in the hospitality & food service industry is referred to as a lifer. My first love will always be cooking and creating art on a plate. That's why I do the opposite of what I was scolded for as a child, I play with my food. What people don't know unless you have spent time in a professional kitchen this industry can and will take a toll, both mentally and physically (Blood, Sweat and Beers). I decided I needed a hobby to keep my sanity on down time. Armed with my camera and "photography for dummies" book the time of the Weekend photo warrior began. I never thought of it as a method of expressing myself artistically, just as an activity that can be enjoyed at any time to help me relax after work. The original interest was probably from my father who was a somewhat of a shutterbug. My primary lens target is abstract objects that catch my eye using mostly b&w to capture it so I will remember where I have been.

Whether in the thrill of the dinner rush or behind the calmness of a camera lens I always feel I am at the best place I can be at that moment.
