* on the first day of camp, we will have an orientation, get to know one another & learn how to write an original piece of music together,
* from there, we'll divide into bands (vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, pianist, etc.in each band) some groups may have more than 1 of the same instrument, & more than 1 vocalist
* some youth may have the opportunity to try a different instrument, & we'll write our own songs for each band, we'll also try covering songs, made to our own styles
* we'll divide again into more groups; vocals, drums, guitars, etc. & try learning other songs or instrumental pieces with the help & leadership of staff
* our goal is to put a show together, & youth will learn about how a performance happens, in front & behind the scenes
* last year, we performed our show on the last day of camp (Friday) at 2pm, but if it works with everyone, we can have our performance on the Saturday that follows the camp

LiPS Finals are happening in July. This is where the top poets (who have competed in the LiPS 2010 SLAM series) have an opportunity to share their best work, and perhaps win a spot on the National Team.

The National LiPS team will then get to compete with Spoken Word poets from across Canada - at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, being held in Ottawa this year (in October).

LiPS has been fortunate to be able to compete nationally for the past two years, thus far as the only rural team to compete on a national level.

Come out & show your support, and to hear the wonderful Spoken Word poetry of your local Lanark County poets.
