Orange Art Gallery presents Heather McTavish!
Heather McTavish, a local artist from the Ottawa Valley, will be exhibiting large-scale oil portraits of three very important people in her life, her three daughters. The "Daughters" exhibition will be presented from May 27 until June 20 at the Orange Art Gallery located at 233 Armstrong St at the Parkdale market. Findlay House Concert

Its that time of year again so come out and enjoy the old time sounds of the Good Right Arm Stringband.
We started our House Concert Series with these talented folks two years ago and are thrilled to have them back in our living room on Saturday June 19th
If you have had the pleasure of seeing them perform before you know just the kinda musical journey back in time they will take you on, and if you have not been out to one of our shows we guarantee a night to be remembered. Come on over to our place and experience for yourself the powerhouse vocals of Miss Kristine Schmitt, the fiddlin' frenzy of Tony Allen and the clawhammer'n of banjo player Chris Coole, all backed up by the steady bass line of Sam Petite up close and personal.

First Annual Ottawa Valley Youth Talent Show

The First Annual Ottawa Valley Youth Talent Show is being held Saturday June 12, 2010 as part of the Lambs Down Park Festival in Carleton Place Ontario. The show, organized by Arts Carleton Place member Ottawa Valley Youth Talent Foundation, is open to amateur performers who must be 18 years of age or under as of August 2, 2010.
Categories include music, dance and variety (other acts). Auditions for solo or duo acts as well as trios, bands and large ensembles have already taken place. Those performing at the Festival will be competing for prizes awarded in 1st to 3rd in Music, 1st in Dance, 1st in Variety, Best Original Song, Under 10 yrs., & a Judge's Choice Award.
The organizing Committee is comprised of Lisa King, Arlene Quinn, Lise MacMillan and Jack Denovan. The objective of the show is to provide youth with both the opportunity and venue to showcase their talents in front of a live audience.
The Committee is actively seeking corporate and individual sponsors for the event and has committed to actively promote all sponsors up to and including the event. Sponsors to date include SRC Music, Burns Jewellers, Mississippi Blues Society, The EMC, Carleton Place Legion, Tim Hortons, Arts Carleton Place, The Diamond Foundation, Carleton Place Town Council, the Mick Armitage Band, Thomas Cavanagh Construction, Harvey's, Smilez Dentistry, Starbucks, Giant Tiger, Levy's Leathers Canada, Freedom Photography, the Cheddar Shop, Jr. A Carleton Place Canadians, Coast Music Canada, Heritage Radio, Lake 88, Mitchell Creative, Carleton Place BIA, Town of Carleton Place, Roger Plant and Lee Hodgkinson.
The top 26 acts that will perform at the Talent Show are as follows: Michaela Schellies; Charlotte Lake; Melissa & Jordon McIntosh (performing together as a duet & as solo performers); Katy Maltby; Katie Gardner; Lexi Donaldson; Jamie Macfarlane; Redline; Jenika Benoit; Hannah Pringle; Peter Neathway; Meghan Strickland; Haylee Paul; Tony Leduc; Valarie Hartry; Sara Mitchell; Jordon Fee; Brad Scott; Victoria Doxsey; Emily Richardson; Matthew Delisle; Triple Trouble step-dancers; Kyle Code & Emilie Scott; & Impact Percussion

SRC Music Summer Rock Camp

SRC Music Summer Rock Camp is now accepting registrations, a choice of 2 weeks; either: Mon, July 19th to Fri, July 23rd or Mon, Aug. 16th to Fri, Aug. 20th, 9am to 4pm, everyday at the St. James Hall, in Carleton Place, for students 12 to 18 yrs. (10 & 11 yrs. maybe accepted, depending on ability & maturity)
Open to students with an interest in music and/or students studying any instrument, including vocals are welcome. Learn song writing techniques, learn to play in selected ensembles, challenge their creativity, learn about production, and the final result will be a 2 hour performance.
