Starting in September, we will be holding sign-up sessions for our On-line Artist Database every month at Page & Turners Bookstore. These drop-in sessions are for artists wishing to sign up to our database. The sign-up sessions will be held on the third Thursday of every month from 6 until 8pm. The first session will be on Thursday, September 21st, 2006. To sign-up for the database, artists from any discipline are requested to provide:

- one picture of themselves
- two samples of their work (can be photos, on disk, sent via e-mail, etc)
- a short biography (250 words or less) describing their work and themselves
- $10 (signs them up for one year, and helps to cover web fees).

We were so amazed with all the people that came out in support of our Awards Program. It was an eclectic evening that pulled many different artistic areas together in one evening. The party started around 6pm and led the crowds from a variety of venues along Bridge Street until we wrapped up at Town Hall shortly after Midnight. We were all blown away by the performance of Kellylee Evans, who had audience members up and dancing in the aisles.

We also announced the winners of this year's Awards Program. Both of the candidates are graduates from Carleton Place Highschool. The Awards will be officially given out during the commencement ceremonies.

The proceeds from the "Sounds of Downtown" fundraiser will go towards next year's Awards Program.

Many of the supporters begged us to do this sort of fundraiser again next year...we hope so!

Many artists from the database were included in our "Sounds of Downtown" fund-raiser in some way or another. The owners of "Surrounding Memories Framing" opened their doors for some of the visual artists from our database. It was an eclectic mix of styles displayed for the evening. Many of the artists were on hand to chat with the party goers, who stopped in for some snacks and to view our display on their way to other venues. The party goers were extremely positive and supportive! Many thanks to Michelle Bedel and Marci Houle at Surrounding Memories!!
