We had a potluck!
Posted July 18, 2006 under ArtsCP Activities
Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy the nice weather and our first Potluck.
We had a Potluck to celebrate our first 6 months, since we were incorporated in the fall.
Craig Angus shared with us the accomplishments the group has achieved over the last 6 months. These included having an Open House, Volunteer Meet and Greet, making and distributing brochures and bookmarks, the establishment of a webpage and an online Artist's Database, organizing Human Right's Day activities in 13 area schools, taking part in the Mississippi Lakes Arts Festival, designing our own logo and font, showcasing art in Page & Turners Bookstore and Read's Bookshop, the creation of Arts Alive a monthly newspaper article in the Canadian, the establishment of an Opportunity Award to practising artists, and the establishment of the Student Bursary Award that will be awarded to local high school students in the fall.
This was also our opportunity to launch our fundraiser, "Sounds of Downtown". Ina Jackson and Carolyn Ciccoritti worked with Janice Bowie from Lux Photographic to make a very unique poster design. They also showed off the T-Shirts, which volunteers will be wearing for the fundraiser. The fundraiser will take place on Saturday September 9, 2006.
After everyone sampled each others dishes, we got to hear some great live jazz which put everyone in the mood for celebrating. It was a great night and an amazing launch for the fundraiser!
