Human Rights Day: March, 2006
Posted January 24, 2006 under ArtsCP ActivitiesArtists Needed!
We are looking for artists who would be interested in volunteering to work with groups of up to 30 students, using their art form, to send out a message about human rights. The project could involve a single workshop or several encounters with students over the next few months.
Every art form is invited to participate. For example, a dancer could work with students to develop choreography to interpret a challenge related to the unity of humanity. A musician could work with youth to write a song about how to bring unity to the globe, or their community. A glass artist, or potter, could develop a mural with glass, or clay figures, representing the diversity of the worlds people...the writer: a poem...the photographer: a storyboard...the dramatist: a play...the possibilities are endless!
We have 13 schools in Almonte, Beckwith and Carleton Place, and we would love to see 2 or 3 artists at each school (artists can work in pairs if you wish).
The product would be presented to students in their school, and other local schools, during the human rights day celebration on Thursday, March 2nd, 2006.
Are you in? Please contact Craig Angus, as quickly as possible, with any questions, suggestions, and ideas!
Sub-Committee Launch
Posted January 13, 2006 under ArtsCP ActivitiesThis was our chance to get those interested in volunteering their time with us out to hear about specific projects that we will be working on over the next year.
After we passed out some information booklets, everyone had a chance to introduce themselves. After the introductions, it was time for those interested in specific areas to speak up and sign up.
Some highlights of those specific projects included: our Fundraiser (hopefully in the spring or early summer) which will raise money for our Awards program. We also talked about our involvement in Human Rights Day, which will be held in March (more information will be added to the website soon).
There are still other projects on the go, so if you were unable to make it to our "Sub-Committee Launch", and are still interested in volunteering in some capacity, please let us know.
Thank-you to those that came out and signed up for our projects.
